Ground School

Private Pilot Ground School

Private Pilot Ground School is offered as a 10 week, 3-hour duration evening class which focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Private Pilot Airplane Aeronautical Knowledge Test. Each class begins with an in-depth lecture about the key knowledge areas, followed by a fun and non-intimidating classroom quizzing session and finishes with test taking strategies for the session.

While earning a pilot certificate requires that you learn new terms and concepts, your Sun Coast Aviation flight instructor will assist you in understanding these new terms and concepts with as much ease as possible. Your instructor is highly skilled in the various aeronautical knowledge areas and each class is supported by industry standard test preparation workbooks and online practice tests so that the learning is fun and engaging.

At Sun Coast Aviation, we like to say that a “Journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step” and completing our ground school is that “first” step to piloting to distant shores and adventures of a lifetime. Take that step.

Your learning is organized as follows:

  1. Class 1 Basic Aerodynamics
  2. Class 2 Aircraft Systems and Flight Instruments
  3. Class 3 Regulations
  4. Class 4 Procedures and Airport Operations
  5. Class 5 Weather and Weather Services
